DIRK BUMPS ‘BIG O’ TO ARRIVE AT NO. 10

Dirk Nowitzki, with a patented fallaway jumper from a few feet off the right elbow, surpassed Oscar Robertson as the NBA’s 10th-all-time leading scorer.
Nowitzki, 35, joins the most exclusive of NBA clubs in which each member is recognized simply by first name or nickname. Dirk, the Dallas Mavericks’ sweet-shooting 7-footer and an original stretch-4, certainly has that covered.
“Amazing, amazing. I mean top 10 is unreal,” Nowitzki said following the 95-83 victory at Utah. “It’s been a crazy ride. Passing Big O, who obviously averaged triple-doubles numerous seasons, is unbelievable. It feels surreal still. All night I wasn’t really trying to think about it, I was trying to concentrate on the next shot. I knew how many points I needed, but I wasn’t really trying to think about it. I was trying to think about the next shot and how I could get open.”
Nowitzki, the 2007 regular-season MVP and 2011 champion and Finals MVP, now has 26,714 career points. He has also surpassed 30,000 total points that includes 128 postseason games

Twitter profiles get Facebook-style revamp

  • The logo of social networking website 'Twitter' is displayed on a computer screen in London on September 11, 2013
Twitter on Tuesday began revamping profile pages to let users display more of their online personalities, giving the popular service a Facebook-like feel.
"The new web profile lets you use a larger profile photo, customize your header, show off your best Tweets and more," Twitter designer David Bellona said in a blog post.
Twitter showed off the redesign at the accounts of high-profile accounts such as that of US First Lady Michelle Obama at @flotus and music stars @JohnLegend and @Weezer.
On redesigned Twitter pages, messages that prompt people to respond or "re-tweet" appear in larger type to reveal which comments resonated with followers.
A favorite 'tweet" can be pinned atop pages to make it easy for "followers to see what you're all about," according to Bellona.
Filters are being added to allow more selective views of timelines on pages.
San Francisco-based Twitter said the changes are "coming soon to everyone."
As of the end of last year, one in every six people online in the United States used Twitter and approximately a quarter of those on the Internet in Britain tuned into the service, according to industry-tracker eMarketer.

In smartphone mass-market, Samsung, Apple have margins on their minds

As the smartphone action shifts to the mass market, leaders Samsung Electronics Co Ltd and Apple Inc are under pressure to make their high-end phones more affordable to revive sales. And that may spell trouble for already-softening margins.
Samsung, which said on Tuesday it would likely post a second straight quarterly profit decline, has knocked around a tenth off the price of its Galaxy S5 in South Korea, in the first such move for a marquee smartphone launch - the S5 rolls out globally on Friday. And it's throwing in a free gift pack of media subscriptions and web apps worth 600,000 won ($570).

Pacman still have the power and speed

Los Angeles — Four weeks spent conditioning Manny Pacquiao has made returning strength coach Justin Fortune realize that the Filipino still has a lot of gas left in the tank although the April 12 rematch with Tim Bradley won’t be an easy one.
Fortune served as Pacquiao’s fitness guru from 2003 until 2007, years when Pacquiao was leaving a trail of broken bones and bloody nostrils in his wake.
